Pins and Needles
04:36
|

you should light my shirt on fire
and save me from my Friday night, cuz it's
lager silencers to quell the hellish choir
that's been screaming in my ear all night
'cause work is dragging, my spirits sagging
won't you fill my flagon up
you know I'm yearnin' for that burnin'
so I'ma chase the dragon in that cup
i feel the pins and needles crawling up my skin
hello temptation, my old friend
my tank is dry so fill me up and let's fly again
oh Sassy's, sweet lady, don't call me on Tuesday,
my girl is sleeping and I've got bills to pay
change for a five turns into change for a twenty
and I'm fifty deep before I blink my eyes
oh I want to know what you'll show me,
otherworldly sights for earthly eyes
my mind is swirling, these limbs are twirling
and the poles reach to the sky
i feel the pins and needles crawling up my skin,
hello temptation, you'll be my end
my tank is dry so fill me up and let's fly again
i could lie and deny myself the earned pleasures I so desire
but lying's wrong, to thine own self be true
so I'm gonna do exactly what I was gonna do
oysters, champagne, a brick of cocaine,
and a spliff of your finest green
oh boomies and acid a splash of tabasco
to wash down this huff of gasoline
i feel the pins and needles crawling up my skin
hello temptation, you'll be my end
my tank is dry so fill me up and let's fly again.

Tourista

i'm a class tourista
hardly knew what to do with a doctor's girl
but you painted a picture
the way you bit your lip and slowly twirled
your hair 'round your finger
giving me that look with only one intent
i looked over my shoulder
but there was no confusion as to who you meant
you get what you want girl
make your move slick and strong
glad to be all up in your crosshairs until
something better comes along
birthday diamonds,
dresses finer than the finest of my finery
an alpine christmas
summers lickin' grapes at grandpa's winery
box seat tickets,
why even go if you ain't vip,
girl as long as you're buyin',
i'm fine with the passenger's seat
you get what you want girl
make your move slick and strong
glad to be all up in your crosshairs until
something better comes along
oh you can call me crazy,
you can call me weak,
be like a tape of late last friday night
played back on self-repeat
might be a self-fulfilling prophecy
but only time will tell
but until then i am not buying
what you are sellin' girl
'cuz you get what you want
make your move slick and strong
glad to be all up in your crosshairs until
something better comes along

Waiting For A Sign
04:21
|
|||
Forgive me if my eyes, they linger longer than they ought to
Yours are just so hypnotizing like starlight
I sometimes get the sense that if I broke my gaze too quickly
I might leave part of myself behind
Magic is the imprint you leave on all that you touch,
We mortals stumble from you reeling from the depths you cannot hide
And off you go out spinning spider's silk into fine linen
As if anyone could do it if they tried
Well that's a lie
And you float across the floor
Lashes like the breeze
Voice like lilac wine
Oh, girl to see you comin's like the parting of the ocean
As if Moses was a pale-skinned goddess clad in flowing summer dresses
Heads go turning, whispers follow, swelling in your wake
Like the crickets singing to the fireflies
Well that's no lie
And you float across the floor
Lashes like the breeze
Voice like lilac wine
I see you when I stand in silence, fold my arms and slowly close my eyes
But I dare not submit the depths of my obsession 'til I make you mine
I'm just waiting for a sign
So forgive me for my lingering, I have no business more than wondering
If I caught your eye some blessed night or day
I hate to press the issue but just tell it to me truly
And I'll be along my lovestruck foolish way
I'll be fine
And you float across the floor, lashes like the breeze,
Glowing like the shore from far out on the sea
Eyes like burning coals, lips parted to speak
Voice like lilac wine

Running Underwater
04:10
|
|||
the pace of life is quickening, picking up
speed with each day that flies by
you gaze in the light of your god-like devices
you can't do it all yet you try
i close my eyes, and i count to 5
and the world is new
change is the only constant
nothing 'bout it we can do
if we slowed time to suit our lives
& had complete control
you could say goodbye to surprises
all matters precise and cold
tsunami through the floodplains
ever expanding, engulfing everything in our path
you can fight the tide, or ride the wave
whatever makes the memories last
no running underwater
in fitful sleep, a shady nemesis
creeps up in the night
something's lost and a line gets crossed
and i try to take flight
my muscles churn, my legs are burning
but still he gains
i feel my fear my anger
all self-directed pain
tsunami through the floodplains,
ever expanding, engulfing everything in our paths
you can fight the tide, or ride the wave
whatever makes the memories last,
no running underwater
nothing bout it we can do
the pace of life is quickening, picking up
speed with each day that flies by
you gaze in the light of your god-like devices
you can't do it all yet you try

Black Dog

Black dog scratching at my front door
C’mon in and make yourself at home
I’ve got a frozen pizza chillin’ in the freezer
And Portland’s finest swirling in my dome
Cuz it’s been a very quite long February
No LA vacay resting in my means
So I’mma sit and sweat out this Spring fever,
So c’mon over and let’s stream some TV
If you got nowhere to be
Cuz I got no place to be
So come and curl up right under my bar stool
The girls will see us coming down the line
They will think us dark and amusing
Not the boyfriend type, but that’s just fine
Cause it’s been a very quite long February
No break in rain to ease these frigid days
Maybe she’ll come close and we’ll sweat out this spring fever
Face the facts in the morning if she stays
If she’s got nowhere to be,
yeah I got no place to be
Cause I got no money, only prospects on the way
I’m hustling but it’s taking time to pay
Only so much I can do each and every day
the future’s bright, but the present’s grey
Oh maybe I will lose you at the river
When a girl in nearly nothin’ bats her eyes
Or maybe I’ll get paid with g’s in buckets
And all my debts will be unrealized
Cause it’s been a very quite long February, so tough
The first can’t come quickly enough
